Carlsberg Poland unveils rounded corners to cut waste

As we look for more ways to enhance circularity in our operations, Carlsberg Poland started trialling a new multipack format in 2024. It is designed to reduce the need for shrink film on pallets transporting our beverages.

Developed in collaboration with DS Smith, the multipack design has rounded corners that help to avoid damage. It is also fully recyclable. Carlsberg Poland is trialling the rounded wrap packaging for its Carlsberg, Garage, and Somersby beer product ranges.

During initial tests, the rounded corner design reduced empty space in the box by 4.2% and makes the box almost 17% lighter compared to one with 90-degree corners. This design shift is expected to save up to 224 tons of CO2 annually for Carlsberg in Poland.
