Prioritising health and safety in our breweries

Ensuring a safe workplace has always been of the utmost importance to Carlsberg Group, and we have a target of experiencing zero lost-time accidents by 2030.

There are countless initiatives and actions undertaken each day to make sure we keep progressing towards an ever-safer workplace.

Maintaining robust health and safety management systems, like the ISO 45001 standard, which was certified at 73 of our 82 production sites in 2024, offer an important foundation for this work. Those not yet certified are either new production facilities or microbreweries.

Another very important part of this work is ensuring that our Life Saving Rules are strictly followed at all sites. Our Life Saving Rules (see below) set out clear directives to help our people stay safe when carrying out the activities that present the highest risk of accidents across the business. Everyone working with us must follow these rules. Anyone who does not may face disciplinary action.

Each site must follow specific requirements associated with each of the five rules and other critical health and safety standards, like contractor management. We check compliance through regular internal audits. Globally, we aim to maintain at least 95% compliance and we achieved 97.3% in 2024.

LIFE SAVING RULES

  • Always follow traffic rules (onsite and on the road)
  • Always follow lock out / tag out procedures
  • Never remove, bypass or impair safeguards or interlocks
  • Always follow work at height producedures
  • Always follow confined space entry procedures
