How certification systems help mitigate our climate impact

While our Together Towards ZERO and Beyond programme sets the strategic direction for reducing our climate impact - guiding our overarching goals and driving innovation - standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 provide structured frameworks for continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

ISO 14001 focuses on environmental management systems (EMS), promoting ongoing enhancements in environmental performance, while ISO 50001 addresses energy management systems (EnMS), supporting organizations in systematically improving energy efficiency. Both standards help manage environmental and energy performance in a structured and measurable way. Their implementation often results in cost savings through waste reduction and operational efficiency - making them a practical and mutually beneficial complement to our broader strategic goals.

In 2024, 72 of our 82 sites were certified to the ISO 14001 standard and 14 were certified to ISO 50001, reflecting our commitment to these foundational principles.
