Joining forces with leading brands to bolster our industry’s renewable transition

As part of our work towards a ZERO Carbon Footprint, we joined forces with other leading beverage brands in 2024 to launch the REfresh Alliance.

By working together and pooling resources, we are aiming to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy across the supply chain and support the industry’s transition to Net Zero.
Partners in the REfresh Alliance include:

  • Bacardi
  • Carlsberg Group
  • Constellation Brands
  • Diageo
  • HEINEKEN
  • Molson Coors Beverage Company
  • Pernod Ricard
  • The Coca-Cola Company
  • Whyte & Mackay

Scope 3 emissions, those produced by a company’s supply chain, can account for up to 90% of a beverage company’s carbon footprint. But decarbonization can be difficult for small suppliers that might not have internal expertise.

With support from leading energy solution provider, Enel X, the programme connects alliance members and suppliers with renewable energy providers, improving accessibility of renewable energy for smaller suppliers. A dedicated education platform helps participants prepare for renewable energy adoption.

Launching initially in the mature renewable energy markets of Europe and North America, REfresh plans to expand to other markets and invite businesses from across the beverage industry to join. In its first year, REfresh has already engaged with more than 300 suppliers to help them adopt renewable energy solutions.

It takes almost three times as much thermal power as electricity to produce our beer. But solutions for renewable heat are not yet widely available.

Regular short journeys between breweries and nearby warehouses provide an excellent setting for electric vehicles because trucks can recharge as they wait.
