Carlsberg’s presence in Canada can be traced back to the early 1970s. But, in 2022, conversations to create a better beer business in Canada began. By March 2023, Carlsberg acquired Waterloo Brewing, creating Carlsberg Canada.
Founded in 1984, Brick Brewing (later to be called Waterloo Brewing) was the first craft brewery to start up in Ontario and is credited with pioneering the present-day craft brewing renaissance in Canada. With four brands in their portfolio, and a state-of-the-art facility in Kitchener, Ontario, joining forces with Waterloo Brewing was an obvious decision for Carlsberg.
With an impressive combined portfolio of ten brands, including beer, cider and RTD’s, Carlsberg Canada’s purpose is brewing for a better today and tomorrow. Doing business responsibly and sustainably supports that purpose – and drives the efforts to deliver value for shareholders and society.
