Carlsberg’s story in China could date back to 1869, when we exported beer to China for the first time. In 1995, we set up the first brewery in mainland China in Huizhou, which is still one of the most important production bases of Carlsberg China.
In 2002, embracing China’s Develop-the-West Strategy, Carlsberg began its large-scale and continuous investment in China, starting from the western regions. Building on our stronghold markets, Carlsberg China has gradually developed into one of the five top beer companies in China, with 27 breweries in 9 provinces, and a nationwide sales network.
CBC (Chongqing Brewery Company Limited), the listed company, is Carlsberg's operating platform in China, with an annual volume of approximately 30 million hl, annual revenue of around RMB 15 billion and 6,800 employees.
Today, Carlsberg China has a strong portfolio of International Premium Brands (IPB), including Carlsberg, Tuborg, 1664, Brooklyn and Somersby, alongside Local Power Brands (LPB) such as Wusu, Chongqing, Xixia, Dali, Wind Flower Snow Moon and Jing-A.
In line with China's commitment to addressing climate change, Carlsberg is advancing its Brewing Tomorrow ESG programme in China. CBC has been awarded an AA rating by MSCI ESG Ratings, the highest ESG rating achieved by companies in China's food and beverage sector.
